The company was founded by Dave Smith and his son, Phil Smith, in February of 1992 as a wholesale lumber brokerage. The company quickly grew to include Dave's other son, Scott, and others building a niche selling Southern Yellow Pine industrial lumber products. In the summer of 1997 Phil and Scott decided to change the company's course by building a state-of-the art panel processing facility, and eventually leaving the wholesale lumber brokerage business. Today, the business is owned by Phil and maintains its growing success to the credit of a committed and skilled staff. Smith Companies' facilities encompass 90,000 square feet of new buildings on a 5 acre site in Pelham, Alabama. We have a wide variety of CNC routers, panel saws, chop saws, rip saws, boring/drilling machines, band saws, and custom proprietary machining centers. Our specialties include Plywood Slave Pallets, Slip Sheets, Solid Pallet Decks, Plywood Reel Components, Shelving, Furniture Frame Components, Boat Components, Seat Components, Custom CNC Routed Parts, Plywood Pallet Blocks, and many other products made from wood panel products. We stock over 2,000,000 square feet of sheet stock that includes Russian Birch Plywood, Fir, Southern Yellow Pine Plywood, Elliotis Pine Plywood, Imported Tropical Hardwood Plywood, Hardboard, Plywood Siding, OSB, Particle Board, and MDF in a wide variety of grades and thicknesses. We have no limitations to geographical markets and can handle the shipping logistics to any domestic or foreign destination.
